Rotary Club of Antigua (RCA) along with its corporate partners continues to support COVID-19 relief efforts through its “Meals on Wheels” initiative.
In the month of August, the RCA held two Meals on Wheels distribution. On August 1, 2020 General Motors together with its local agent Antigua Motors donated 1200 face masks to the RCA. The General Manager of Antigua Motors, Mr. Paul Ryan, a Past President of the RCA was the driving force behind the initiative. For the month of July each household received 10 disposable masks in their monthly care package, as the country continues to adhere to safety protocols associated with combating the COVID- 19 pandemic.
August 28, 2020 was a very busy afternoon for the RCA as the bags for our monthly Meals on Wheels Programme were packed for collection and distribution on Saturday, August 29, 2020. We are very grateful for the financial assistance from our corporate partners who aid us in bringing monthly relief to 108 individuals.
As the Rotary Club of Antigua continues to establish a number of corporate partnerships in efforts to meet the needs of the community, the CIBC First Caribbean International Bank was the latest establishment to support a major initiative. On September 25th 2020, the bank's Country Manager, Ladesa James- Williams presented a cheque in the sum of $15,000 to the President of the Club, Kevin Silston. This amount covers four months of the Club's signature Meals on Wheels Programme which provides dry goods and toiletries for 108 individuals. In explaining the rationale behind the donation, James- Williams said, "we are very happy and thankful that we can be associated with a project of such significance. We are very pleased that we were able to answer a need when we were approached by the Club. We look forward to future collaborations and we applaud and support the work of the Club with its numerous community-based initiatives".
